Taft Farms Mission

Taft Farms has been a pioneer in the farming undustry for over 50 years. Daniel and his brother Stanley started the Farm back in 1961 with little more than a dream and some land.

The dream was to create a farm that did not need to heavily rely on chemicals and pesticides. A farm that could act as a steward for the land instead of robbing it of it's natural resource and beauty. Long before the organic movement, long before the advent of genetic engineering, Daniel and Stanley could see that agriculture needed a change, and that they wanted to change it!

The land was the picturesque Housatonic River Valley, located in the shadow of the Monument Mountain nature preserve. Some of the most fertile lands in the whole state make up Taft Farms. With a unique geography that makes sustainable practices like crop rotation and cover cropping easy to do, The lands of Taft Farms were the perfect place to put their farming ability to work.

With each passing season Taft Farms renews it's commitment to sustainable agriculture. With a focus on heirloom varieties, pesticide free growing, watershed management, and minimal fertilier use, we hope to preserve the farm for future generations!

The Taft Farm Store

Taft Farms is commited to bringing quality farm store shopping to you year round. During our growing season we offer freshly harvested vegetables and berries right from our own fields, grown pesticide free! We also carry some of the finest selections from other local farms and purveyors to fill the shelves with the best the Berkshires has to offer.

Our Farmhouse Kitchen Prepares Soups, Entrees, Meals, Sides, Salads and so much more from our seasonal harvest! You have probably heard the catch-phrase "Farm To Table"...well our farm IS our table, and we invite you to sit and eat at it! Chef Paul uses the freshest vegetables available, often harvested the same day they are prepared, to make you delicious, healthy meals to take home or eat in!

The Farm Deli has what many consider the finest sandwiches available in The Berkshires! All our sandwiches are made fresh on our homemade breads, and using roast beef, roast turkey breast, and fresh baked ham, that are all cooked right here in our farmhouse kitchen without excess salt and without preservatives! Order off the menu, or create your own!

The Farm Greenhouse is a paradise for landscapers and gardeners alike! Why pay the huge mark-ups at retailers and nurseries when you can go right to the farm! We specialize in growing that hard to find tropical, succulent, or specimen plant. Every spring we grow the largest selection of vegetable plants in Berkshire County! Thousands of varieties of vegetables, herbs, fruits and berries are available to choose from, including the very varieties we grown in our own fields! Heirloom varieties, ethnic varieties, and GEO-free varieties are our specialty!
